What is Exploding Kittens?

I remember hearing this name and had no idea what the fuss was about. How the makers were looking towards crowdfunding. Who were they? What made this idea be able to hit their goal within minutes? I needed to know more, more importantly I needed this in my collection. My boys have a deep love for all things cats, so I was intrigued. Exploding Kittens? Was it gore? Was it family friendly? So like so many out there, we waited for the release. Would this game be worth all the hype?
I am happy to say that Exploding Kittens did more than meet our expectations. Yes, we are a family that loves games, and were looking to find more to play. This seemed right up our alley. I love that it is super portable which made it the perfect travel game for us. Who knew a deck of cards would bring so much laughter and joy. The game play is easy to learn and will soon become a favorite in your home as well.

What’s in the box?

Exploding Kittens comes with 56 cards.
Attack cards (4)
Cat cards (4 of each type) there are 5 types
Defuse cards (6)
Exploding Kitten cards (4)
Favor cards (4)

So what do the cards do?

Attack: Ends the player’s turn without drawing a card and forces the next player to take two turns in a row.
Cat Cards: These need to be paired up to have special abilities Using special combos.
Defuse: Allows a player that draws an Exploding Kitten card to put the card back in the wherever they want (sans the next card)
Exploding Kitten: The big baddie.. Eliminating the player that draws it
Favor: Forces another player to give the player who played this card a card from their own hand
Nope: No!! That’s right this card allows you to stop things from happening
See The Future: You get the chance to see the next 3 cards, you cannot change their destiny.
Shuffle: Playing this allows you to shuffle the deck, but cannot look at the cards.
Skip: This one is simple you play but do not have to draw.

How do you win?

In short – Exploding Kittens is a quick game, where every player has a defuse card in their hand. On your turn you chose to play something from your hand or just draw from the pile. Your turn ends with a card drawn. If you draw an Exploding Kitten card, you play your defuse. If you have no defuse card, than you are out. Game continues until the last one standing.
