Family Game Night – Catan for the win!
There is just something amazing about quality family time. Family game night is tops on my list of hanging with the boys! Watching their eyes light up as they plan their moves, is priceless. Our favorite game as of late has to be CATAN. Srategy gaming is truly a fun adventure. Now I know that strategy games can be intimidating, but we, like a lot of people got lost in the instructions… so per our usual reference, we You Tubed how to play... problem solved.
Family Game Night has become such a hit in our home
Quickly we set it up and began our adventure, learning as we go tends to be our motto. I was a bit antsy about this game as I can have a hard time with long plays, but this was fantabulous, we were done in an hour. Laughter ensued, teaming up to win and just plain fun. Game night has grown in our home, where once it was just a weekly thing, we now look forward to spare time when we can all just game out. Granted I get tons of joy from all the laughter, the way they try to barter, or stop a movement or another player, they are having fun while learning!
Yes we are raising young gaming boys, teaching them strategies and consequences all through a board game. Gaming goes beyond just a roll of a dice, or how fast your hand can move with a controller. Gaming can be all encompassing. Family Game Nights are moments of tears, moments of “that’s not fair” but I see them truly as learning moments, moreover it is all about true moments of laughter and joy.
More game ideas to play
Catan was amazing enough to add Expansions in addition to Variants and Scenarios. Taking a new favorite and adding depth is always a win. Yes, we still play classic games, and there are loads to choose from, but for now Catan is the one!

Family Game Night is truly a win for all. I love how they can’t wait to see what board games are out there, it gives me a warm feeling when I see them add games to their birthday or Christmas lists… they truly enjoy our family time, and this makes my heart so full.
The truth of matter is, no matter how old you are, a game night can be tons of fun!
